A different pie recipe with a very special filling. Yogurt and applesauce combined together in a perfectly balanced, sweet & sour dessert. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 600 g Greek strained yogurt
- 250 g applesauce
- 100 g brown sugar, granulated
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- zest of an orange
- 20 g corn flour
- 4 classic & simple pastry sheets
- 125 ml melted butter, for brushing
Instructions
1
In a medium bowl mix the yogurt with the egg yolks. Add vanilla and stir.
2
Continue with the sugar, the orange zest and the applesauce. Stir well. Add the corn flour and mix until combined. Set aside.
3
Brush a round baking pan with melted butter. (32cm / 12.6” in diameter)
4
Using a rolling pin, transfer the first pastry sheet to the prepared pan. Arrange it nicely, making sure you’re also covering the sides of the pan.
5
Brush the whole surface with melted butter. Repeat the process with the second and the third pastry sheet.
6
Pour the yogurt mixture into the pan and smooth it with a spatula.
7
Turn the edges of the pastry sheets inwards and brush them with melted butter.
8
Cover with the last pastry sheet. Twist its edges inwards and butter the whole surface.
9
Bake in a preheated oven, at 170⁰C / 325⁰F for 60 min.
10
Let it cool completely. Sprinkle with powdered sugar & cinnamon before serving. Enjoy!
